ROOT DECO. Dragon Rings A Bell.
Well, here we have a right mix of styles, from the jolly hocky sticks of Piper to the almost early period Hawkwind(ish) Shallow Man. Twelve tracks in all that go through three hundred and ninety degrees of styles, all handled remarkably well. Paul Johnson on drums and vocals, and Larry Vilchek on guitar, vocals and harmonies are the main 'ingredients', with a side salad of Bob Sclabach and Brian Johnson...the boys deliver each and every track with confidence and the production is pretty decent. I wasn't all that surprised, really, as Tim Jones from Stone Premonitions had been raving about the band, and invariably he's pretty spot on with his opinions. Root Deco aren't your typical band, and whilst they don't venture into experimentalism too much, what I find most appealing is their skill at songwriting. Folk, ballads, rock, and anything inbetween. Odd name for a band, but it's one that sticks once you've heard them! (Dw) Modern-Dance, the A-Z Music Review Magazine

Wow-this is something else. It's like a souped-up answer to classic Jefferson Airplane mixed with a dash of early Springsteen, a touch of Pete Droge, some scorching Kaukonen-Casady-like guitar play and a set of psychedelic bluesiana that hits the spot right from the start and never looks back...and some wicked guitar work not to mention a corking rhythm section throughout. Really, its got all the right ingredients and the guitar work is to die for- this is phenomenal stuff that gets better the more you play it, not a bad track on the album. .. listened to the CD often .. cool wild rock.. Lord Litter, Radio Marabu

This ROCKS!!! They're going to be huge. Typically, this is what a demo should be: rawest of raw; begging for someone to pick it up, polish it off and say, "yeah, we can work with this". And judging from the list of who I think they sound like, this band can successfully go any way it wants: heavy metal, heroine rock, blues rock--it's all good. Brings To Mind: Led Zeppelin, Dylan, The Cramps, Lords of the New Church, Hoodoo Gurus. I Would Play This CD on a Saturday night before going out. MotherLoveVibe, South of Mainstream

ROOT DECO has just come up with the album of the month in "Rain Steam Speed"...(it) is a mixture of old and new songs. I’ve not put a genre on it ...it’s well worth checking out if you like mid to late 60’s west coast psychedelic rock delivered with real conviction and high octane energy.

Rain Steam Speed’ has some great songs on it One of these, 'Rainbow' I think ranks among (the) best. Paul Johnson comes across sounding very much like Jim Morrison and the whole piece has that classic Doors etc. west coast sound...songs like this and "Working Class"the social conscience of (the) compositions comes across strongly with lines like 'If your conscience don't kill you then your life style sure will!' T

Another new song 'Find Myself' is great fun, again like a forgotten 45 from a bygone era you wouldn't be surprised if it turned up on one of those psychedelic nuggets compilations!

Love your sound! Very Yardbirds! Les Lewellyn, Preying Lizard Music

ROOT DECO We Come in Peace.
Could it be? Old school Psychadelic rock ala 1960's era bands still being made this very day!? Yes! It's true! Root Deco take Psychadelic folk rock into a completely different hemisphere, bringing with them the newly acquainted space rock in the midsts of their progressive stylings. I must say that the music sounds a wee bit more complex than any music i've heard from that time. It's not just the progressions, but the actual rhythms and melodic lines that have been written are quite difficult playing material. Not only this, but the solos are about as extreme as it can get for rock. Incredible speedy not-quite-so-epic lightly distorted guitar solos that walk along the walls with their colorful effects. There is even some jazz fusion influence to be heard throughout the release. While We Come in Peace may not be the newest idea to come about, the music is particularly incredible. These musicians obviously know what they're doing and it shows. Fans of any Important Records artists would probably eat this stuff up. In fact, any psychadelia fan should really get off on this album. Old school rockers looking for a nostalgic kick should also check this out. Lord Lycan at Heathen Harvest .
